Quartz

Quartz (SiO2)

From its common name “El Marw” to its association with the word “quart” implying its hindering properties, quartz is a versatile mineral with a wide range of applications. The majority of quartz is utilized in the production of ferrosilicon ingots, a key component in steel manufacturing. Ground quartz finds its way into the creation of ceramics, while its transparent form holds immense value in the electronics industry. From radar applications to the production of lenses, prisms, and other optical components, the clarity of transparent quartz makes it a vital material across various technological fields.

The chemical composition of quartz is silicon dioxide (SiO2), one of the most abundant minerals in the Earth’s crust, not a metal.
Its economic value comes from its widespread availability and unique properties, especially when found in highly pure and finely crystalline forms.

Quartz is a common mineral found in igneous rocks, like pink granite. It can also be present in some sedimentary rocks that formed from the erosion of older igneous rocks. Quartz porphyry, in contrast, is an igneous rock itself. This type of intrusive igneous rock is characterized by large quartz crystals (phenocrysts) embedded in a finer-grained matrix. It forms when magma cools and crystallizes underground.

Our quartz products cater to a wide range of applications in various industries, ensuring you receive the perfect material for your needs at competitive prices.
